We're mobilising a field team for our Kenya Power vegetation management contract in Taita Taveta County. Tap a role to see the full description.
Project Manager
Reports to: Managing Director. Lead delivery of our Kenya Power vegetation management contract, coordinating scheduling, client relations and crew performance across every contracted substation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the weekly clearance schedule across all contracted substations.
- Act as the main point of contact with Kenya Power's contract administrators.
- Review and submit weekly completion reports and site sign-offs.
- Manage expenditure within your approved authority limits.
- Coordinate directly with the Operations Supervisor, Technical Officer and Safety Officer to keep the contract on schedule.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma or degree in project management, engineering, environmental management or a related field.
- At least 3 years' experience managing field service or contract operations.
- Strong client relationship management and report-writing skills.
- Comfortable managing a multi-disciplinary field team.
- Valid driving licence an added advantage.
Operations Supervisor
Reports to: Project Manager. Direct daily field operations, ensuring crews are deployed efficiently and clearance work consistently meets Kenya Power's specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the Groundsmen crew on a daily basis.
- Inspect completed sites against clearance specifications before sign-off.
- Coordinate vehicle scheduling and routine equipment checks.
- Reallocate crew between sites as the weekly schedule requires.
- Escalate operational or safety issues to the Project Manager and Safety Officer promptly.
What We're Looking For
- Certificate or diploma in a relevant field.
- At least 2 years' experience supervising field crews.
- Strong team leadership and communication skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors across multiple sites, in all weather.
- Basic understanding of vehicle and equipment maintenance scheduling.
Technical Officer — Vegetation Management
Reports to: Project Manager. Provide technical oversight of clearance methods, cycle planning and quality control across the substation portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan the technical sequencing of clearance cycles across all substations.
- Advise on species-specific clearance techniques and regrowth management.
- Conduct technical quality checks and support training of field crew.
- Maintain accurate technical and performance records.
- Recommend improvements to clearance methodology based on site conditions.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or a related field.
- At least 2 years' relevant experience.
- Good understanding of vegetation growth patterns and clearance techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping discipline.
- Confident training and mentoring junior field staff.
Safety Officer
Reports to: Project Manager. Take full ownership of health, safety and regulatory compliance across all field operations, keeping the crew safe on every site.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the permit-to-work log and toolbox-talk register for every site visit.
- Issue and monitor the use of personal protective equipment.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or near-misses.
- Conduct regular safety audits of tools, equipment and site practices.
- Deliver induction and refresher safety training to field staff.
What We're Looking For
- Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or equivalent.
- At least 2 years' relevant experience, ideally in a utility or construction environment.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (2007) and WIBA (2007).
- Confident, clear communicator able to enforce safety standards on site.
- Calm under pressure during incident response.
Groundsman
Reports to: Operations Supervisor. Join our field crew carrying out vegetation clearance work at Kenya Power substations, using chainsaws, brush cutters and hand tools under close supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out clearance work using chainsaws, brush cutters and hand tools as instructed.
- Wear and take care of your issued PPE at all times.
- Report hazards, near-misses or equipment faults to your supervisor immediately.
- Help with vehicle loading, site clean-up and safe disposal of cleared vegetation.
- Follow the permit-to-work procedure on every site visit.
What We're Looking For
- Basic education (KCPE/KCSE or equivalent).
- Prior experience in grounds maintenance, forestry or similar physical work is an advantage.
- Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in all weather.
- Able to follow safety instructions and work well in a team.
- Willing to travel between substation sites within Taita Taveta County.
